This week, we tried something different. Customers don’t like to pay large sums of money for a new website. Windows based Azure Web Apps can be cheap but the cost shoots up when you want SSL.
Google wants everyone to move to SSL these days. This is fine if you want to pay £40 / month to have SSL on a Windows based Azure Web App but many people don’t want to pay that kind of money.
The solution is to move to a Linux based Azure Web App. Microsoft have recently taken to Linux in Azure in a big way. We published a database driven Dotnet Core Website to a Linux Web App and it all worked perfectly,
